After purchasing the Bama X4 tuner for $399.99, I thought to myself, why is this product so expensive??? I could not find any information online that outlined the processor or simply how the internals worked. Despite the "Warrenty Void" sticker, I opened it up to see what makes this thing tick, and to see if it is worth the $400 I spent on it. Spoiler Alert!! It's not worth $400. I think that cost stems from the development of the device and the tunes for it. The cost of parts is probably near $75.
Apart from the hefty price tag, this is a pretty good product. Bama offers free tunes for life and this thing really does add HP!! It can be easily updated. It also supportes datalogging and it can clear DTCs. I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars simply because of the price tag.
The PCB is double sided with SMD components. The primary processor is an STM32F103.
